THEORISTS
When we study and work with children and adolescents, we want to make some sense out of what we see. The explanations we may develop about why children behave in certain ways become theories. Throughout history, many different, and often opposing, theories about human development have developed. Why are theories important? Developmental theories are the basic principles or formulations that help us organize our observations to understand and predict human development. Below are several important, influential theorists and their findings.
